Grateful Gert

Found out yesterday my car needs a new transmission. Estimates are ranging from $2500.00 to $5000.00. Well, my car has served me very well for five years and I'm grateful to have had it. I'll be grateful once it's fixed, too! The money? Cost of living...happens to us all. (OK, I admit I've been a bit anxious about it, this blog entry is meant to reorient my thinking to what's really important).

I'm grateful for my sweet baby puppy. She's four and her name is Petunia. Petunia loves me every day, for free. And she's a great rat killer.

I'm grateful for my beautiful kids...smart, and both upstanding citizens.

I'm grateful for my education. Sometimes I really do think ignorance is bliss, but I can't help but appreciate the worldview I've come to have. And the knowledge that my worldview will hopefully change and grow and expand throughout my life.

Not least, I'm grateful for my husband. He has been a wise, grumpy, generous, funny, supportive, loving, patient and steadfast man. I always say without him I'd probably weigh 300 lbs and be working in fast food. There have been many highs and lows these past 29 years. Nonetheless:

"Grow old along with me,
The best is yet to be."

-Robert Browning

I'm grateful for other things, too. This just hits the highlights for now.

It sounds like you have a wonderful life (except for maybe that car thing). I just dropped by to thank you for leaving a comment on my blog and to apologize for not publishing it sooner. I have a bad habit of reading comments in e-mail, then forgetting to publish them. Anyway, it looks like you are off to a great start on your blog and I'm looking forward to reading more. Happy blogging!
